National Autism Association — Words Have Weight
There's a lot of stigma and misrepresentation of people with autism in the media.
The increasingly casual use of terms like "overstimulated" and "sensory overload", especially on social media, dilutes their significance to those with autism and reduces people's empathy and understanding.
The NAA is reminding people of the true significance these terms hold for people with autism.
Year: 2024
Role: Art Direction
Using personal testimonies from people with autism, we brought awareness of the magnitude of words like "sensory overload" and "overstimulation" through OOH ads.
We also took to social media, the most common place these words are misused, to bring awareness and educate people.
